    Join this amazing journey through space and time, entering Pompeii: a unique document of Greco-Roman life.  Begin your journey down the “Highway of the Sun”, passing through the famous Roman countryside, Castelli Romani. Enjoy incredible views of the Mediterranean, Mount Vesuvius, and countless historic sites. You will also enjoy a short sight of the city, the seashore and the gulf of Naples. After stopping for a traditional Italian lunch, make your way to the UNESCO Archaeological Site of Pompeii with Skip the Line Tickets. Spend the afternoon exploring this once thriving city that was frozen in time by layers of volcanic ash. Pompeii remained buried under a layer of pumice stones and ash 19 to 23 feet (6 to 7 meters) deep. The city’s sudden burial served to protect it for the next 17 centuries from vandalism, looting and the destructive effects of climate and heavy weather.  After your tour of Pompeii, resume your trip through the Roman countryside, enjoying the scenery as you leisurely make your way back to Rome.     Alessandro, the overall guide was good. The staff at Greyline office in Rome where great. The lady who met up in Naples was a bit... too much. She talked a lot. A lot. But it was not much of interest in what she said. The talk could easily have been reduced by 75%. Either stayed that way with less information but interesting information. Or, the 75% could have been replaced with some additional interesting information. The tour in Naples was great. The lunch stop was a total waste. Venue and quality of food and service made no sense at all. Why a 3 course lunch that had less quality than a Norhtern European poor Italian restaurant. Would have been much better with a shorter stop for a good Italian sandwich and have more time in Pompeji, or make the stop in Naples a bit longer for some slices of pizza.

    Overall pretty good

    Appreciating that it is a long way to go for a day trip (approx 6 hours total travel time), it was a good day. Guide was a little hard to understand in the beggining and there is a bit too much down time but it's a hassle free way to see Pompeii and gain some valuable information as you go.

    Excellent day out with splendid tour of Pompeii.

    Very comfortable coach but it required an early start and we didn't get back until 8.30pm. Our brief tour of Naples was on the coach and there was no opportunity to actually walk round any part of Naples so the title of this tour is quite confusing. The included lunch was very good. The guide taking us round Pompeii was very knowledgeable and interesting. The walk was quite long and difficult on cobbles and large stones. There was a long wait of more than an hour before we were escorted to the coach. We then had a long wait for another coach to transfer and receive people who were on a 2 day tour. This made our journey back to Rome at least 2 hours later than could have been done if it had been better organised. I would recommend this activity but NOT Absolutely...!!! There was too much time wasted during the day which spoilt our experience.
