Full description
Board the comfortable air-conditioned bus in Rome and relax as your expert driver whisks you south to Pompeii. Once there, you’ll be met by an expert local tour guide, hand-picked for their knowledge, enthusiasm, and story-telling skills. Discover some spots that many other visitors don’t see, such as private family homes, ancient fast food restaurants, and even a brothel. During your tour, you’ll also see the most important sights of Pompeii and learn what daily life was like in this ancient port town. Come to understand how terrifying and confusing it was when Mount Vesuvius erupted and froze the city and its residents in time in 79 A.D. Visit the Roman Forum and the Temple of Venus, and see the tragic death casts. After your Pompeii tour you’ll head off on a scenic drive along the Amalfi Coast. As you navigate the twists and turns of one of Italy’s most beautiful drives, you’ll hear about local history and culture. Stop in Positano, a pastel-colored resort town perched on the cliffs that has inspired legendary writers such as Shelley, Goethe, and Steinbeck. After an introduction from your guide, with some tips on where to eat lunch and shop, you’ll have free time to do as you please.

This a great way to see Positano and Pompeii from Rome. It is a long 13 hour day but is broken up by frequent stops on the way down and back, so it made the drive much more enjoyable. We were able to spend 2 hours in Positano for Lunch and shopping and then got back on the transfer and headed to Pompeii, where we got a 2 hour guided tour. This is the best way in my opinion on how to see pompeii. If your lucky enough to get Fransceco as your guide you will be treated to his enthusiasm for the site, as well as his humor. Our tour guide Mattio on the transfer service was all great and provide a wealth of knowledge about Rome and the area. I would highly recommend this tour. Don’t forget to tip these guides, if you are happy with the service that they provided.

Such a fabulous day! Tour guide on the bus Antoinetta and the tour guide in Pompeii were so lovely, so friendly, so enthusiastic. We had a great time definitely worth every penney. We spent 2 hours in Positano and it was just the right amount of time to look around and get lunch and drinks!

This trip was so fun and well worth it. It is the easiest way to get in Pompei and the coast while visiting Rome. I would recommend making a reservation from the bus if you’re wanting to eat at a sit down restaurant in Positano and you have a rough estimate if when you will arrive. Eat first and then take the rest of the time to shop or go to the beach. The time goes by fast, but you still get a feel for it and the drive there is beautiful and a little scary. The driver was excellent though and knows how to navigate the roads expertly. Pompei was also surreal to see and our tour guide there was very knowledgeable. Ilaria was pleasant and helpful throughout the trip. It’s a long day and tiring day but you get plenty of time to rest on the van. If you are interested in these destinations, spend the money and do the tour! No regret and definitely my favorite day from my weekend visiting Rome.
