Full description

Enjoy an easy bike ride to the catacombs along the Appian Way and climb up to the top of Aventine Hill for a drink at the end. See the most beautiful scenery outside Rome running along the Appian Way, cycling past ancient pagan tombs and Roman ruins immersed in nature. First, stop at the catacombs of St. Callisto for a guided tour of Rome's oldest site of Christian worship. Following this, continue on your e-bike to get to the Appian Way located in the woods of a regional park. After having cycled a short stretch of the original Appian Way, visit a natural spring. Take a quick break to fill up with mineral water from the spring before continuing to the Cafarella Valley. Cycle through the Cafarella valley crossing green fields and little streams as you make your way back to the city walls. See more of the Roman countryside from a viewpoint on top of an ancient Roman cistern. On the way back to the start, enjoy an aperitif on top of Aventine Hill overlooking the city as the sun sets.

Nice guide. Gave us a lot of information, but gave us also time to enjoy the ride. Sunset was really nice with the wine and the snacks. One participant had a problem with the wheel, but the guide managed this immediately. Ride on the appian way was a little bit difficult because of the bumps.

Won't lie, it was A LOT of riding through all types of terrain and rough if you're not used to doing it. That being said, it was a great way to explore outside the city wall and our guide was great. Lots of history along the way and the catacombs/aqueducts were a sight to see. Would recommend.

We had a great guide in Glenn. He mastered the various difficulties that arose along the way in a calm manner and was always friendly and courteous. We chose the tour in English because we couldn't get a German-speaking tour anymore. The guided tour in the catacombs, part of the tour, was then in German. Registration was not necessary.
