The tour begins with pickup from your hotel (if option chosen) or at the local partner’s office near the Colosseum metro station. Arrive at the Colosseum and bypass the long admission line with your fast track ticket. Inside, admire this impressive landmark, a UNESCO listed location dating back to 72 A.D. Listen to your guide share fascinating stories about the construction techniques the Ancient Romans invented and used to build the Colosseum. See the rooms where gladiators prepared for battle and learn about the many events that occurred here, including bloody combat and violent exotic animal fights. From here, continue the tour to Palatine Hill, the former home of Ancient Rome’s most affluent residents. Soak up epic views across the city center and snap incredible photos. Finally, head down the hill to explore the impressive Roman Forum, which was once a bustling market place.

The tour in the small groups of ~20 people was good overall, the tour guide was very personable and was clearly enjoying himself, which added value to the tour. She had a lot of interesting information and also small anrkdotes to tell. However, the tour of the announced 3 hours only lasted about 2 hours 15 minutes, which was a bit of a shame considering the steep price of 169 euros for 2 people. And we almost missed the beginning, although we were almost 15 minutes too early at the meeting point, but then it started.
