Your tour starts steps away from the Colosseum, where you will meet your guide, a Roman history enthusiast. After an introductory tour of the structure from outside you’ll proceed to the skip-the-line entrance, for privileged access. Once inside, begin your tour below ground and explore the Colosseum’s tunnels, chambers and pits. This section of the Colosseum is restricted to the public and only allows a select number of visitors each day, so enjoy this exclusive chance to see more than most people do. Admire the engineering of the 88 elevators that brought to life Rome’s best spectacle. Next you will head to the arena floor. Most visitors are restricted to walking around the edge, but you have access to walk on the floor itself, standing in the exact spot where the battles took place. After the tour of the Colosseum is over you’ll be left inside to enjoy some free time and really take in the energy of this world wonder.

Meeting point

Meet at Largo Gaetana Agnesi, the square located on the terrace ABOVE the Colosseum Metro Station. The guide will be wearing a purple t-shirt at the UPPER exit of the Metro Station. (Please note: if you are in front of the Metro Station, please make your way UPSTAIRS.) Please note that it is a requirement to be at the meeting point at least 15 minutes prior to the starting time of your activity. Late arrivals cannot be guaranteed entrance.

Guided Tour Underground Very well organized. The Crown Tours staff will meet you at the meeting point above the metro station and escort you to the group entrance in front of the Colosseum. Feels like zero waiting time, definitely worth it! The underground is not open to everyone, so it is relatively exquisite. Interesting stories and insights about the Colosseum and the gladiators. Afterwards enough time to discover the first floor and the Palatine on your own. Calculate enough time, Colosseum and Palatine is a day tour!

unforgettable experiences with a fantastic guide! a trip worth the price, everything is well organized and the guide is first class! intelligent, funny, with great knowledge, and despite the fact that there were a dozen or so people in the group, he tried to get to know and remember everyone. I would highly recommend it and would love to come back on this trip again. the Colosseum itself and the Roman Forum are unforgettable experiences and well worth the price of the tickets

The tour was run by Crown Tours. People were lovely but they were not quite as organised in the meeting and greeting as we had the day before with the Vatican tour by I Love Rome. We had two different guides. Both were excellent one did the coliseum the other took us from the coliseum up to the palatine hill and the forum.
