Goodness, this was a gamble. Wasn’t sure what to expect. Whilst there is a little biking in Rome itself, once you get out of the city (you will survive the guide looks after you well) the ride is wonderful. Terrain is bumpy at times, that’s part of the experience. Was a real highlight of the trip. So wonderful to leave the hustle and crazy of the city behind for a short while. E bikes are fantastic and take away any strain. Highly recommend this.

we did this tour on Wednesday 19 October and it was a wonderful experience thanks also to the skill and preparation of our guide Mattia who, in addition to giving historical information along the way, fascinating ancient Roman remains not easily accessible by public transport, manages very well to lead the group both in the country roads and in the city route. We were a group of 5 65 year old friends. we came back with so much enthusiasm that whoever we talked to about it, they in turn want to do this tour. THANK YOU MATTHEW

We found this e-bike tour to be more challenging than described. We have done other city bike tours and expected to be riding through traffic. At times the guide stopped traffic so we could all pass through an intersection and other times we were left to make it through on our own and if we didn’t make the light we had to struggle to keep up. The ride through the Appian Way involved very narrow rocky paths and with early morning sun glare we found it difficult. The tour guide set a very brisk pace, and if your aren’t comfortable riding off road I wouldn’t recommend this tour. The guide was knowledgeable and the sites were lovely, I just feel it is for more experienced riders than the description would indicate. The lunch break was very nice and relaxing with a chance to hang out in a setting where locals came to fill water bottles with natural mineral water from the source. Food was plentiful and tasty.
