Highly recommend the tour of the Colosseum. The guide was good and really helped to give us a little more insight to life in the past. This tour also includes the forum and palintine hill so you dont need to book those separately. It is very hot and there is very little shade, but obviously this isnt anything to do with the tour, but definitely take water and a hat.

Knowledgeable guide. Possibly too much time spent on displays other than the arena, but that is picky. 15-20 minutes to take photos of the arena is plenty anyway. We didn't go through the lower (gladiator) level or onto the wooden floor of the arena because we booked late, but I am not sure that would have added much. It is definitely worth going to the forum and Palatine Hill for the views of the city. There are drinkable water fountains in the forum area, but not in the Colesseum itself as far as I could tell. FYI - there are numerous water fountains around the major sites, so you can refill bottles or flasks relatively easily without spending a fortune on street vendors. Bus tickets are cheap but check the electronic travel board first as sometimes there can be quite a delay. Taxis are scarce around the Colusseum, but plentiful if you walk 200 metres to the Via Cavour. The metro is good, but not a direct link to St Angelo where tour/Cruise busses seem to drop off

Experience was amazing! Just the right amount of time if you are doing a day tour and don’t want the whole day taken up! Tour guide David was very good and funny! One thing I would say is that he just needs to make sure the mic is always in front of him but other than that he was very informative and gave a really interesting tour and facts!
