Full description

Get out of the city and into the countryside for a few hours in the evening. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of Rome and enjoy cycling through a traffic free regional park to the roman aquaducts, catacombs and the Appian Way. Cycle along an ancient Roman road that runs out into the countryside as the sun starts to set over the fields, stopping to visit the Catacombs of St Callisto. Once your tour of the Catacombs is finished, rejoin the group to continue cycling to the Park of the Aquaducts. Get up close to these magnificent structures, following their path back into Rome. Enjoy an aperitif (drinks with some food) in the countryside. We will bring plates, cups etc to be able to provide each participant with some refreshments like season fruit, a glass of wine, focaccia bread, cheese or mozarella with tomatoes. The snack stop will take place in a unique location which is not a bar/restaurant. Along the way back we will cycle through the Cafarella Valley where we find remains of a pagan temple dedicated to the deity Egeria, a water goddess. Cycling through this valley fill of green fields and woods is an enlightening way to reach the walls of Rome and enter back into the city without traffic or busy roads. Return to the Circus Maximus.

I would recommend the E-bike tour. We had never ridden e-bikes before and thought they were great. We are a family of four, my wife and I over sixty and my sons in their twenties. It was a little crazy at first because we were getting used to the bikes and the starting location was across the street from Circus Maximus which was having a concert that afternoon and 60,000 people arriving for it. We rode past the Forum and Colosseum thru a lot of traffic, but for me it was fun. Once out on the Appian way it became much easier. Leopold was our guide and he was helpful and informative. The Catacombs tour is conducted by a different tour guide and that was very interesting as well. The ride back was on a different path and then got crazy again as we approached Rome center. Really, the only disappointment was that Leopold was a last minute replacement and was not aware that an aperitivo was included with the tour, but he immediately got us some beers and snacks when we informed him. Fun.

Very nice and informative tour. Great guide. The Via Appica Antica is great to explore by e-bike. The catacombs are also worth a visit. However, I would not recommend the e-bike tour for children, as part of the tour is driven on the road and it becomes dangerous in heavy traffic (drive past the cyclists quickly - often very closely).

Great tour! Easy to make. The tour guide , Glenn, is a nice guy who provides many informations about the via Apia, it’s history and the landscape. Bikes are in best shape! Very recommendable! Andy
