Full description
Take a half day guided tour in the outstanding Museo Nazionale Romano Palazzo Massimo and Terme di Diocleziano. In one morning you'll see so many famous art treasures away from the tourist crowds and city traffic. Stroll in an evergreen wood once belonging to the Thermal Baths of Diocletian — what's more, that huge courtyard was restored by Michelangelo! Your guide will show you lost statues from the imperial palace — such as Myron's Discobolus (Discus Thrower) and the Old Boxer, richly painted frescoes from the Garden Villa of Empress Livia, colorful mosaics and tombs of many sorts and kinds! At the end of the tour, get ready for some science and astronomy, as you will walk in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, housing a unique planetary sundial, built by 17th-century astronomers for the Pope to calculate the perfect sequence of day and night throughout the seasons. Enjoy the pleasure of walking in amazing quietness in front of first-class art pieces and let Rome show you its best treasures.

Great tour. Recommended. I had no idea there was so much to see in the Diocletian baths museum and Palazzo Massimo -wonderful statues /mosaics /funerary urns etc. Price includes access for a week and it is well worth a repeat visit to the museums as there is too much to take in on one visit

This tour was perfect for me and my partner to do the morning before we left Rome for southern Italy. The museum wasn't crowded at all and allowed us to marvel and ask questions about all of the Roman National artifacts and collections. After the museum we went to the ancient baths that also had a display of multiple family sarcophagi that were very well preserved. We finished up with a scientific twist as we visited a church that was established that was on the foundation of the entrance to the ancient baths. On the floor of the church was a sundial that had been installed to more accurately track the passage of time. Our hotel was close enough to not require the transportation that was provided but could be a good perk for someone staying closer to the Vatican or other parts of the city. Without the cost of the taxi, it would probably be better priced. A major benefit is it is fairly close to the Colosseum and the train station.

The tour was great. The guide wue accompanied us and is very knowledgeable of the Roman History and knows the collection of the three places visited. We spent a pleasant and productive morning in places that are really worth it! I highly recommend this tour, especially to anyone who wants to discover what the city can offer besides the Vatican and the Colosseum! Very recommended !!!
