Eccezionale!

This was a good tour, but unfortunately it felt incredibly rushed. We arrived to the meeting place and they spent half an hour sorting us into our separate language tours. The actual tour began 45 minutes late, and since it was the last tour of the day we had to hurry through the basilica. The description mentioned that we would be climbing the dome first, but our group did it last. This meant we had to skip that part in order to make our next tour. Since that was kind of the point of our paying for the tour in the first place, we were quite disappointed. I expect this would be an excellent experience first thing in the morning, but it was not great for us.

It’s a good way to see some of the musts of the Vatican without wondering where exactly to go, what to see, etc. Keep in mind that this tour does the underground area that’s actually accessible to everyone and doesn’t go to the deepest level where St Peter is actually buried. That level isn’t easy to visit - only via the Vatican itself. Unfortunately, our tour that was supposed to be a small-group tour had 19 people instead of 14. No big deal but I find that the company organising the tour should indeed keep the group sizes as promised. All in all, good experience and entertaining guide Massimo who made it a more interesting visit.
