Full description

Take a tour of the Vatican with skip-the-line privileges and the intimacy of a small group on a 3-hour experience. Thanks to a new partnership in 2022, you can now enjoy exclusive first entry into the Museums’ doors, reserved for only a handful of other tour operators.

Enjoy special access and viewing of the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel 30 minutes before other tours and 1 hour before the general public. Explore the treasures of the Vatican Museums and see the Sistine Chapel as your guide leads the way. Discover the highlights of the papal palace collections, including Greek statues, rich tapestries, and the exquisite Raphael Rooms. Then enter Saint Peter’s Basilica and pay attention as your passionate Vatican guide enlightens you with its fascinating history and little-known stories about the popes.

Note that the passage between the Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter's Basilica is currently closed due to Covid-19 physical distancing measures. To enter the church, your tour will therefore need to go around the Vatican State walls.

Your guide will do their best to include a tour of the basilica, but this may not always be possible due to the distance between the sites. If it's not possible, your guide will you a complete orientation of the basilica before your visit.

Know before you go

  • Occasionally the basilica may be closed due to last minute private events outside of the tour operators control and often without notice. In these uncommon circumstances the tour will operate as usual and the time spent inside the basilica will be enjoyed by an extended tour in an alternative area.
  • Talking during your visit inside the Sistine Chapel is strictly forbidden
  • Access into the museums a full hour before entry during high season is highly recommended considering the immeasurable crowd sizes admitted once the doors open to the public
  • Due to new health and safety regulations, the Vatican currently opens at 8:30 rather than 8:00am. Despite the later start, the early entrance tour option is in all other ways identical to the 7:30am tour. By arriving 30 minutes before Vatican doors open, you enter the museums before the crowds/

Rafaela was great! She was very knowledgeable and showed us all the major stops at the Vatican. She even stayed after the tour to make sure we were able to see the church and explained everything in perfect English. Great tour and I would definitely recommend doing the early skip the line to beat the crowds and see everything.

Our guide (I'm blanking on her name... oh dear! Anna? PhD from the area...? LivTours) was fabulous. She took all the time to share so much, never rushed our group, full of knowledge, positive and patient. Outstanding. I only regret we didn't have more cash to give her a bigger tip. She deserved it!!! The small group tour + first thing in the morning were worth every penny.

Outstanding - so much detail - so many wild and interesting facts!!!!!

The guide was efficient in ensuring we were the first people in the Sistine chapel, so we had the stunning ceiling almost to ourselves. She then went on to provide us with incredible facts and stories about the Vatican, which made the place come alive and will ensure I remember the details for years to come. From Popes with children, to Michelangelo's jokes and poking fun, to the sheet age of many of the artifacts - EXTRAORDINARY
