Departing early in the morning from Rovaniemi, you will be picked up from your hotel and head 116km to the sea coast of Kemi. The journey takes about 1 hour and the sightseeing along the way is amazing. A Lappish lunch will be provided. Situated right on the Bothnian Bay, the majestic castle of Kemi rises up as in a fairy-tale world of the frosty Finnish winter. Each year in January, local professional designers are in charge of designing and reconstructing the unique and massive Snow Castle. It starts to melt only when the shiny sunlight starts to peek out through the clouds in the springtime. Along with the looming castle walls, which are over twelve feet high, the area also features a hotel, art gallery, and chapel, where some people even travel across the globe to hold an exquisite marriage ceremony. Each portion of the castle is lit with colorful lights that add splendor to the ethereal ice walls. Many artists come to lend their talents to the castle by creating ice sculptures throughout the waterside structure as well. Children and anyone with the spirit of a child may experience the delight and excitement the two original snow-mascots Arttu and Terttu offer at the Snow Castle daily.

What people are saying about Rovaniemi

Amazing experience! Our group loved hanging out with Raymond and Kun. They were so enthusiastic and would not leave until we saw the northern lights! They were invested in making sure we had a great experience. I still can't believe how great the photos turned out. This tour was completely worth it! Even if you don't see any auroras it is a lot of fun.

Easy to find, there were few people due to covid, it was great! immersion in an igloo, with ice sculptures, visit to a bar, restaurant and ice room... Ice skates and buoys available for sliding. We were 2 adults, we really had fun, back to childhood guaranteed! Located in the village of Santa Claus in a magical setting (we were there in December)

Experience at the top, very pretty and atypical for the ice hotel. Sauna and jacuzzi at the top. Small flat pick up earlier than 11:30 p.m. after the restaurant the time is long. But otherwise I recommend we liked it a lot.

Very patient tourguides in hunting the northern lights and beautiful pictures with the aurora dancing in the sky

Fantastic such a wonderful place to visit, the guide was remarkable would definitely recommend a visit
