1. Venice: Off the Beaten Path Private Gondola Ride
Climb aboard a gondola to experience Venice from the water on a private ride down some of the city's hidden canals. Journey back in time as you explore Venice on its most traditional mode of transport. It's estimated that in the 17th and 18th centuries, there were as many as 8 to 10,000 of the unique boats plying the waterways of the lagoon. Today, there are just 400 still in active service (mainly for tourism), but they maintain a strong bond with the history of the city. Depart close to the train station, and then travel down some of the hidden canals. Marvel at beautiful buildings, such as the Palazzo Gaffaro, Palazzo Zenobio, church of Santa Maria dei Carmini and many more. Sit back and relax as your gondolier punts you gently back to Piazzale Roma (next to the train station) at the end of the ride.
