Science and Technology Museum Leonardo da Vinci The “Leonardo da Vinci” National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan is one of the most important technical and scientific museums in the world. THE MONUMENTAL BUILDING The monumental building is a former Olivetan monastery whose construction dates back to the early sixteenth century. The building houses important collections, exhibition areas dedicated to Telecommunication, Energy, Materials, Space, Leonardo, Food and the new exhibitions "EXTREME. Searching for particles". Over the weekend the Museum offers a varied program of activities in I.Labs, guided tours and special events included in the admission ticket and conducted in Italian. Not to be missed #FoodPeople - the exhibition for people eager for innovation The new exhibition dedicated to food systems where one can discover different objects and technologies that are now part of our daily lives. An opportunity to take a look at the future and get involved in many exciting activities in the three workshops dedicated to Genetics, Biotechnology and Nutrition. Tinkering Zone A space to experiment and understand science and technology, testing one’s own creativity. Space An area narrating the stories of people, places, and technologies that take us into Space and expand our knowledge of the Universe and Earth. An immersive and absorbing display where one can find a unique object: a Moon rock coming from the satellite’s area called "Taurus Littrow Valley" and collected by the commander of Apollo 17 mission, Eugene Cernan, in December 1972, on the last occasion on which humanity has set foot on the Moon. Leonardo Gallery This is the most important section of the gallery, displaying a great number of wooden machines and instrument models based on Leonardo’s designs: war and flying machines, models of bridges and defensive works, the maquette of the ideal town, and every sort of scientific instruments. THE RAIL TRANSPORT BUILDING The rail transport building is the recreation of an Art Nouveau railway station housing a large fleet of steam locomotives and electric engines. AIR & SEA TRANSPORT BUILDING Created in the 1960s, this building is a particularly interesting part of the Museum in that it contains the schooner “EBE” and the bridge of the transatlantic liner “Conte Biancamano”. On the upper floor there are original aeroplanes and a substantial collection of aeronautical motors. The view looking down onto the “Luna Rossa” catamaran AC72 is spectacular.
