Full description

Enjoy the beautiful Tuscan landscapes on the way to the famous wine hill of Montalcino with your guide. Learn about the process and passion involved in creating the famous Brunello Wine, and enjoy a local lunch.

First, walk in the vineyards and explore the cellars where the wine is produced and aged before enjoying an introductory tasting of the world-famous Brunello wine. Then visit the hilltop town of Montalcino.

See the town's medieval fortress, and spend time browsing the shops and streets. Take in the incredible views of the valleys and vineyards below. Next, enjoy a traditional Tuscan lunch at a family-run winery, accompanied by the delicious wines produced at the facility.

Next, continue to the stunning and ancient Benedictine Abbey of Sant'Antimo, a special place set in a breathtaking landscape. In the afternoon, visit a third winery where you’ll get a detailed description of the wine-making process.

Learn how the vines are cared for and about the long aging process in oak barrels. After visiting the cellars and getting to know the winemakers, you’ll sit down for a final tasting before the return drive to Siena.

It varied slightly from the description given. We were told it would be 9 hours and would include a visit to an abbey. Instead we returned to Siena in 7 1/2 hours and did not go to the abbey. Our guide Elio did an excellent job driving and explaining sights as we drove near or past interesting places. He also did a great job translating for one of the vintners. He has a very pleasant personality. As the tour progressed it became a little more difficult to hear him in the back seat. All in all though, we enjoyed the tour and the 3 wineries. The lunch was fantastic as was visiting the home for the lunch. We highly recommend the experience.

We visited three wineries, trying three wines at each, and also stopped at an abbey and Montalcino, with time to explore its small fortress and a bit of the town. At the second winery, we had a great light lunch in the winemaker's home prepared by his wife. All in all a great time, even if I'm not sure Brunello is for me.

William is the best tour guide hands down! Our wine tour with him for the Brunello wineries was one of the highlights of our Italy trip. He was a great tour guide with lots of interesting information about the wineries, Tuscany, and Italy in general. He had a great sense of humour too which made it more fun and it was appreciated. The Tuscany hills are breathtaking during the drive and the wineries are amazing!! They’re all smaller batch wineries which we enjoyed as you get the whole experience of how the wine travels from grape to bottles, and most importantly you can see how much love goes into these bottles. The wines are all delicious, and the lunch was incredible. The views, hosts, food, and company was such a special experience for lunch. Would highly recommend this tour for a fantastic day! Thank you William.
