Full description
Enjoy a full-day excursion from Split to Dubrovnik, where you will tour inside the historic city walls and along the limestone streets of the Old Town. First, enjoy a scenic ride along the Dalmatian Coast, stopping once or twice for panoramic views across the Adriatic Sea. This is the Mediterranean as it used to be, before the onslaught of mass tourism. Upon arrival at the pearl of the Isthmus of Dubrovnik, take an official guided tour of the city’s historic monuments. Each corner of Dubrovnik is a unique experience, and the 90-minute tour is enough to visit attractions such as the monumental Pile Gate, located at the top of Stradun, Dubrovnik’s famous street of limestone, polished by years of footfall. Go to the Franciscan Monastery, where 30,000 volumes, 216 incunabula, and 1,500 valuable handwritten documents are stored in the library. The cloister is one of the most magnificent monuments in the city and houses the oldest pharmacy in Europe, dating back to 1317. A little further on, encounter the Renaissance splendor of Sponza Palace, notable for its portico and columns, and elaborate stone carvings. Today it is home to Croatia’s State Archives. Your guided tour ends at St. Blaise Cathedral, dedicated to the city’s patron saint and protector. Built on the ruins of a 12th-century church, it was destroyed by an earthquake in 1667, then rebuilt in a Baroque style. It’s a popular place for weary tourists to rest on the steps leading up to the entrance. You are now free to explore the town by yourself. Feel free to climb the city walls and walk the full 1.24-mile (2-kilometer) circuit, offering breathtaking views across a sea of terracotta tiles and the boats and cruise liners in the bustling port. Try some authentic Croatian dishes in local taverns, or just enjoy a cup of coffee in an al fresco café and watch the world go by.

A very nice trip. Beautiful landscapes on the trip. Very nice city and a lot to see. However, expensive to eat in Dubrovnik. The guide was very good. Showed a lot and good at telling. We lived in Trogir and were picked up 45 minutes earlier than originally planned, so it was a day of 14 hours. It was a hot day so some better air conditioning in the bus would have been nice. Remember plenty of water for the trip, it is long.

We were delighted with our trip. We were running late in the morning and the tour guide waited for us which was very kind. The tour guide did a great job during the entire trip. He was funny and gave great information throughout the journey and upon arrival in Dubrovnik. He gave recommendations for food and activities in Dubrovnik and split which was very helpful. We were also very pleased with the refreshment stop on the way back to split where we received food and drink from the locality. Would highly recommend this trip to others.

Excellent guide and decent free time was allowed. Be aware that the city slopes uphill on both sides of main street and there are lots of stairs. It’s best to enter the wall at the east gate and do the north part only. It’s quite the climb and no shade but gives spectacular views of the whole city. you can exit halfway at east gate. The mussels are great! The bus was comfortable with air conditioning and good drivers, but the first bus unfortunately broke down exiting Dubrovnik which gave a delay returning as well as a 40 minute wait on the side of the road for the new bus.
