From Ljubljana: Trip to Lake Bled and Bled Castle

1. From Ljubljana: Trip to Lake Bled and Bled Castle

Lake Bled is often mentioned as the pearl of the Slovenian Alpine region due to its emerald-green waters, picture-perfect postcard church on the island, medieval castle on the rocky cliff, and some of the highest peaks of the Slovenian Alps as the background. Take a short walk along the lakeshore as the beauty of the surrounding mountains reflects off the lake surface. No matter the season, you'll enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the lake and the fresh mountain air.  Perched atop a steep cliff more than 100 meters above the lake, Bled Castle is the iconic image of a medieval fortress, with towers, ramparts, moats and a terrace offering magnificent views. The castle houses a unique treasure - a reconstruction of Gutenberg's wooden printing press, on which the master printer will demonstrate old printing techniques using hand-made paper. Take the Pletna boat, a traditional boat known only to this region, to the tiny tear-shaped island on the lake. Upon returning from the island, stop at the local patisserie and taste Bled’s famous cream cake, kremšnita. In the last 60 years they have sold as many as 12 million of these cakes - they are definitely a can't-miss and a perfect way to top off your day. In the summer you can take bathing suits with you, to take a dip in the lake

Truly wonderful guide who drove only myself, a young lady from Israel and a man from Italy. The guide discussed the history of the country, the countryside, all about the area and the castle, etc. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. The river and whitewater was beautiful to trek along and the forested area refreshing. The castle was a great historic site and the view was breathtaking. The young lady took a swim in Lake Bled while our guide took us to the boats for a ride to the island. Afterwards we all had a delicious lunch at a lake side restaurant. Wonderful overall!

We absolutely loved this tour!! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and being a small group of only 4 of us meant there was flexibility for people to do their own thing. The caves and castle are absolutely incredible and worth paying the extra money to visit (entry fee not included in tour). Then we set off to Bled and caught a pretna boat to the island, again ticket not included but worth the experience. Bled castle was interesting but very different to Predjama!

Wow what a nice trip. we stopped at the beautiful town of Ljubljana and then enjoyed mesmerising views of lake bled. oh and did I forget our tour guide Antonio was excellent

The trip was fabulous from start to finish. Goran is a warm and interesting guy and Angelika in Llubjana was also amazing. It was nice to have a few moments alone as well.

Memorable experience. It is really worth visiting this picrurisque scenery.
