1. Mount Etna: Summit Craters Guided Trekking Tour
Trek to the top of the highest active volcano in Europe with a guide. Admire the dramatic beauty of Mount Etna and marvel at the surroundings from the summit craters. Explore one of Mount Etna's lava tunnels and enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding area while walking with a guide on this day tour. Begin the tour with an ascent by cable car and 4 × 4 minibusses up to an altitude of 2900m in the Torre del Filosofo area. Hike uphill for about an hour and a half to reach the edge of the central crater. Observe the Bocca Nuova, a crater that opened in 1968 and is one of the area's most impressive craters. Travel around the Bocca Nuova until you find yourself on the edge of the Voragine, the heart of the Central Crater. Wander the top and enjoy a 360° view and if the weather allows, it is possible to see the Aeolian islands and almost all of northern Sicily. Descend the mountain, steep but not challenging, and pass through the craters of the 2002 eruption. Walk inside a lava tunnel and admire the volcanic amphitheater of Valle del Bove, a spectacular 8 km long and 4 km wide caldera. Return to the cable car arrival station at the end of the tour, at an altitude of 2500 m.
