Full description

Explore the Vatican City with a guided tour led by a professional art historian. Discover the treasures of the Vatican Museums, admire the stunning Sistine Chapel, and visit the world's heart of Christianity at St. Peter's Basilica.

Start your day of sightseeing by meeting your tour guide and your driver at the pre-arranged meeting point. First, enjoy the luxury of skip-the-ticket-line access. Enter the Vatican and start your tour with a visit to the Vatican Museum, a true spectacle for everyone who visits.

Your tour itinerary through the museum is specialized to focus on the most important parts of the site. The museum is full of art masterpieces, created by Europe's most famous artists throughout the centuries. Your guide will explain every detail of this place. Next, visit the Sistine Chapel. Once inside, marvel at Michelangelo's masterpiece on the ceiling depicting the last judgment. Admire the religious site's other incredible frescoes by many Florentine Renaissance masters.

Finish your tour in St. Peter's Square, where your guide will provide all the necessary explanations before you visit St. Peter's Basilica on your own. Climb the Dome and visit the papal tombs. Admire the Pietà by Michelangelo and the St. Peter's Baldachin by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

Having a good guide in the Varican is crucial for the quality of the experience and our guide was superb! He had vast knowledge in art and history and he communicated it in a the most pleasant and intelligent manner. I particularly appreciated the way he pointed out interesting connections between diffeeent things that we saw as well as intruiging details about Michelangelo. I highly recommend this tour!

Incredible and highly recommended tour of the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel with Deborah (with an "h") on Christmas Eve 2021. The Vatican Museum can be overwhelming, and there is no possible way to see everything in a 3 hour tour, but our guide did a wonderful job of pointing out the highlights, as well as get into the details. She also reviewed printed materials of the Sistine Chapel in advance, so we knew some things to look for (and the Chapel is a quiet place) We were fortunate to be a small group, just our family of four and our guide, so we did not need headphones, we just kept close together and were always able to find a little corner to gather and listen. Needless to say, the Vatican is a must-do for a visit to Rome, and I highly recommend both Deborah and this specific tour.
