  • Visit Vatnajokull - Europe's largest glacier
  • Explore the phenomenon of an ice cave
  • Hike over an adventurous landscape of rugged ice
Full description

Begin in Skaftafell before heading to the Falljökull glacier tongue. Gear up and get safety instructions from your skilled guide before setting foot on the ice.

Start by hiking to the ice cave while soaking up the magnificent scenery and spend approximately 30 minutes exploring. Afterwards, hike back over the glacier through an adventurous landscape of rugged ice.

Ice caves are only accessible during winter when the temperature drops well below zero –  the water from the rivers that run underneath the glacier freezes and leaves this phenomena to explore. Each year new caves are formed in different locations.

Very good experience our two guides were super friendly and funny! The activity was really top very good for intermediate / beginner levels. This hike on the glacier and the explanations that go with it really delighted us. The ice cave was not very big but it was still very beautiful. Notice to game of thrones lovers you are completely in the mood :)

All in all a nice tour for my taste it would have been nice to have more time on the glacier. It took quite a bit of time to equip people and drive to the glacier. Groups consisted of 12 people (36 on arrival), which for me just about goes through as a small group.

Pleasant and fantastic experience with the guide Gabriella and our group who allowed us with tranquility to visit the glacier and to see a beautiful ice cave while also leaving us enough time for photos. Gabriella made the activity even more interesting by explaining some things related to the glacier and the cave.
