Share precious moments with a loved one on a 30-minute gondola ride of Venice at night, and experience the city from a unique mode of transport. It has been estimated that there were up to 10,000 gondolas operating on the canals of Venice during the 17th and 18th centuries. Today, there are just 400 still in active service. Get the opportunity to experience Venice like a local - of centuries gone by! Learn how each part of the boat has symbolic meanings, such as the significance of the 5 or 6 pettini (prongs) on the ferro (prow) to symbolize the sestieri (districts) of the city. Made of iron to balance the weight of the gondolier, the 'S' shape is said to evoke the flow of the Grand Canal.

Ilia was so friendly and whistled very well. He is an excellent gondolier and answered all our questions, took photos of us and even one with us aswell as referring us to one of the best pizza restaurants ever (1000 gourmet)! The experience was nothing short of magical and very romantic. I would 100% recommend it to everyone. The atmosphere was beautiful and it felt straight out of a movie scene.

A real "must do" for any visit to Venice

Our gondolier was really good. The ride was an iconic, bucket-list experience. My only advice for other customers would be to ensure the meet-point works for you. We ended up with a 30 minute walk to and from - which was hard work in the heat and humidity. With the benefit of hindsight, we should perhaps have booked something closer to our hotel.
