  • Explore an ancient Venetian 'Palazzo' overlooking the Grand Canal, decorated with paintings by Tiepolo and beautiful stuccoes
Full description
Experience Italian Opera in one of the most important Venetian-Gothic style palaces in Venice, Palazzo Barbarigo-Minotto. Within this historical venue, an innovative approach to opera has been conceived, with a formula that focuses on the interaction between the singers, the musicians, and the audience. This gives spectators the feeling of living Opera ‘from the inside’. This sensation is amplified by the clever 360-degree use of the ‘stage’ and by having the guests move through 3 different rooms within the Palazzo, one for each act of the show. The whole setting changes, not just the background. Reviving a tradition dating back to the late 1800s, this reimagining is brought to life by some of the finest lyrical voices, accompanied by a talented small group of strings and a piano: a virtuoso ensemble who performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. Opera offered: • La Traviata - Melodrama in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi (Mon - Tue - Thu - Sat) • Il Barbiere di Siviglia - Light-hearted melodrama in two acts by Gioachino Rossini (Wed - Sun) • Rigoletto - Intense drama about love and vengeance by Giuseppe Verdi (Fri)

Meeting point

Palazzo Barbarigo-Minotto, Fondamenta Duodo o Barbarigo, 30124 Venezia VE, Italia. The venue is located near Campo Santa Maria del Giglio, a square on the main walking route connecting Piazza San Marco and the Accademia Bridge. The closest landmark is the Chiesa di Santa Maria del Giglio; on the rear side of the church there is a small bridge leading to Fondamenta Duodo o Barbarigo (on the wall past the bridge there are two signs: a white one and a yellow one). Cross the bridge and follow the small road along the small canal to the left. Turn right when you are in front of the sign "Sotoportego Barbarigo". The entrance is the last gate (n. 2504) on the left, under a vault.

The travelling opera was something completely different to anything I’d ever done before and it was incredible! The staff were friendly, the performers were great and moving from room to room for each scene was a fantastic idea to bring opera to people who in our case had never experienced it before! Myself and my husband had a great time!

Fun experience! For tourists, I would note that there wasn’t a dress code but might be better to dress nicer, like business casual, because for locals it was more or a date night event. During the one break they served drinks but just wine (no nonalcoholic options). The event can be a bit crowded so if you are sitting the back it will be harder to see. The singers were amazing and event is top notch. Follow the meeting point directions closely because the spot is hidden. Recommended!

A must do while in Venice. Musicians and cast are as professional as it gets. A very enjoyable evening. My wife who is not a fan of classical or opera really enjoyed the evening. There probably isn’t another production that puts you so close. The 3 acts are short. Try to get the chairs that surround the small set. Also recommend getting to the location a little before 8 and make sure you are one of the first ones in. The room that the first act is performed is long and narrow and those sitting further back May have difficulty seeing although no sit is really a bad seat
