Verona: Romeo and Juliet Self-Guided Audio Tour

4. Verona: Romeo and Juliet Self-Guided Audio Tour

Verona is as timeless and romantic as the story of Romeo and Juliet, which takes place in its cobbled streets. On this tour, you'll discover that there is more to the city than a tale of tragic love. We’ll leave the busy shopping streets and travel back in time, along the oldest Roman road in northern Italy. More than 2,000 years of history are reflected in the facades of its Roman and Medieval buildings, and there’s a mix of pragmatism and invention in the way old has been recycled into new. We’ll trace the shoreline of the Adige River too, taking in grand piazzas and picturesque alleyways. I'll also show you where to find the best Veronese cuisine along the way. The tour’s highlights include: • The arena where gladiators came to die • A glimpse at the houses of Romeo and Juliet • The Palazzi of the medieval powerhouse Scala family, as well as their private chapel and cemetery • The splendour of Piazza Erbe, the ancient Roman forum • Breathtaking views of the Adige River from the Ponte Pietra and Roman Theatre Let’s pull back the curtain of history and rewrite this tale of tragic love with a happy ending.

They verona card was very handy. once we got off the train from the station we did have to walk to get it validate it it was about a 20 minute walk. But it was very easy to get the card and they person at the desk was very helpful with times for the bus nd where to go and what we could see and do. The card was most useful for the arena, we got to skip the queue nd go in straight away, we also had entry to museums md everything. The verona was definitely worth the money it was cheaper to just get into the arena with it nd we got to see plenty other places too.

Well worth, covers lots of good places for visits and fast tracking so less time wasted queueing , extra day for 5euros, we paid 25 for 48 hours, bootable online but need to go to Centres for card Can use the buses BUT need the bus route information in the leaflet so take advantage of this facility

The Verona Card is so convenient and I wish all the cities had this. One ticket for entry to everything you want to see including all the major churches and the city bus. The staff at the information office were super friendly and helpful.

Was so useful to have, keep in mind that ticket offices don’t always give you the card. We went to three and they didn’t… go to the main information desk in the middle next to the arena to collect. After that it was super easy!

I would strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to discover a little of Tuscany. Thank you to Sara for the great insights about places, history and best gelato in the world
