Rome's Villa Borghese Gardens provide a holiday within a holiday! Once built as the grounds of an opulent estate, the large park boasts multiple attractions, including one of Italy's leading art galleries! Here's what to see and do on your visit.
This quaint oddity at the park's southeasternmost entrance is the world's smallest purpose-built cinema! With just 63 seats, it screens kids movies most afternoons.
An exact replica of Shakespeare's famous Globe Theatre in London. The Bard's plays are performed only in Italian, but you can't understand them in English anyway, right?
On a sunny day there are few better things to do in Rome than feed the birds or row a rented boat around the Villa's beautifully landscaped Lake Garden.
Rome's zoo and biopark can be found at the north of the gardens. Highlights include a giraffe terrace, where visitors can meet the lanky beasts face-to-face!
The Galleria Borghese is open from 8:30AM to 7:30PM Tuesday to Sunday. It is closed every Monday, as well as December 25th and January 1st. Book tickets in advance to beat the queues!
The Borghese Gardens lie to the immediate north of Spagna metro station on Line A. Follow the eastern border of the park to find the museum and gallery.

The Borghese Gallery in my opinion is one of the finest galleries in Rome. To miss the experience when visiting Rome would be a great loss. You should always visit a galley like the Borghese with a knowledgeable guide to explain the importance and history of the individual pieces of art. The biggest part of looking at art is understating what you are looking at.
The ticket was regularly and punctually delivered to me.The Borghese Gallery collects treasures by Caravaggio and Canova of exquisite workmanship. Everything from the decorations of the floors, walls and ceilings to the furnishings captivates and conquers. I highly recommend the experience.
Borghese Villa and Gardens are a must see if you visit Rome. The Villa is stunning with the most beautiful art exhibitions. The gardens themselves are beautiful also. We were lucky as it was a very pleasant day with lots of sunshine.
Lots of arts from historical period. Watching them live in this museum live is a great experience.
A concentrate of superb paintings, ceiling, period but also contemporary. We liked it a lot
