Miami: Wynwood Graffiti Experience

1. Miami: Wynwood Graffiti Experience

When you arrive for this graffiti experience, an easel and art paper will be set up for you along with a table full of spray paint in a variety of colors. First, you will be taken through a step-by-step lesson with a facilitator on how to use spray paint. You’ll start with the basics: how to hold, angle, and handle the spray can, how to manipulate the pressure and length of the spray to create paint dots and lines of different sizes and widths, and how to write letters. Moving on to more complex skills, you’ll learn how to make a drop shadow, backgrounds and patterns, and a color gradient. After going through the skills of the lesson, you will have time to experiment and create an art piece of your own. The facilitator will be there to give guidance and tips, and to answer questions while working alongside you. Masks and gloves are on hand for personal protection. Although issues with ruining clothes are rare, it is best to wear something comfortable that you won’t mind getting a few paint dots on.

What people are saying about Wynwood Arts District

The good: It is a fun and funky experience. I think it would work well with something else, not by itself, something to make it part of spending a while in Wynwood. It would be cool to have a tour guided by an artist. The bad: The address in the confirmation was confusing (#402, we entered through #404). The setup is not great if it rains. I would have liked a bigger canvas, perhaps an actual wall! Overall: great time, combined with other activities in Wynwood... and there are plenty: Walls, restaurants, boutiques, walking and more.

I actually would have liked a few more film sets. The city tour went through two quarters. The boat tour was a lot of fun and led past the prominent islands. The tour guide on the boat presented the houses very friendly and fun.

Very fun activity to do with friends or family! Experienced graffiti artists and funny too!
