Zakynthos: Island Day Trip with Turtles, Swimming, and Caves

1. Zakynthos: Island Day Trip with Turtles, Swimming, and Caves

t After a convenient pickup from your hotel, head to Kalamaki beach on Zante's southern shores. Enjoy the pristine beach with soft sand and warm waters, protected by National Marine Park. See where the endangered loggerhead sea turtles nest. You may spot tiny baby turtles breaking out of their shells. Next, head to Laganas beach to board the glass-bottom boat. Sail to the Keri Caves, carved by time, tides, and wind. Follow the coastline, admiring the white beaches, rock arches, forested hills, and enormous limestone cliffs that fall into the sea. Pass through the famous rock arch, Kamara.  Stop for a 20-minute swim just outside the entrance to a vast cave. Climb back on board to head to Marathonisi, known as Turtle Island, an exotic, green, and coincidentally turtle-shaped island. Enjoy an hour on the golden sandy beach where you can swim and snorkel. Head back and pass the famous Cameo island bridge. Enjoy the idyllic views of secluded beaches surrounded by steep white limestone. Enjoy a final stop at the award-winning Aristeon ecological olive oil press museum in Lithakia. Explore the history of olive oil making on the island with experts.  Enjoy free tasters of local olives and traditional bread with different flavored extra virgin olive oils (most likely lemon, orange, and garlic). Take a sample of olive oil shampoo, soap, body cream, or face cream. You can also buy these products to support local businesses.

Pleasant day full of discoveries! Sakis was a great guide, passionate, attentive, very helpful and warm (he even wanted to get out of the van to shake hands with each of us before leaving). We were first on Kalamaki beach then on the glass bottom boat where we very quickly saw a turtle very close to us for great videos! Then we went to the Keri Caves which were very beautiful and we bathed, it was very pretty. Finally, we saw the bridge of Cameo Island for some photos and finally we went to visit the olive oil museum which was not bad too. I recommend this day, which was great and all the more so thanks to our guide! (water was also provided in the van which was much appreciated).

We got picked up at our hotel and had a lovely guide. They provided us with water and headed of to the first beach on the main land where the turtles laid their eggs. Then we continued to board and drove to the caves where we had a lovely swim. After the sightseeing of the caves we had the possibility to swim at an island beach and eat something when you wanted to. After being in and on the water for some time we arrived back on the main land and ended the day with a short tour in the lovely olive oil museum where we were provided with tastings and were able to buy lovely olive oil based products.

Our host was absolutely lovely and so accommodating. We were picked up from our hotel on time and given cold water. The trip itself was spectacular and we were able to see a gorgeous sea turtle. We swam by the beautiful white cliffs and spotted jellyfish, crabs and various fish. The glass bottom boat was a fun extra to look through. We enjoyed the olive oil museum and took home some delicious garlic oil. 10/10 day out, I would recommend!!

Actually got to see turtles on the sea bed and one coming to the surface for air. Really enjoyable trip, chances to swim and visited the olive oil factory and taste some samples. Our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable

Beautiful experience, we saw turtles and swam in crystal clear water.
